Website Design

Website design and build

A new website for businesses with no current site, or with one sufficiently dated that replacement is the more economical course.

Overview

Built around what customers actually inquire about

The common position is a site produced some years ago that no longer presents the business accurately and does not perform on a mobile handset, which is where the substantial majority of local searches now occur.

We begin by establishing what the business does, who contacts it and what a visitor should be able to do. The site is then structured around that small number of services rather than around an organisational chart. Hosting and the domain are registered in your name from the outset.

What’s included

Scope of a standard build

  • An initial consultation establishing the services, the audience and the intended action, before any design work begins.
  • Design and build developed mobile-first, reflecting where local searches predominantly originate.
  • Your existing material organized into a page structure.
  • Hosting and domain configured and registered in your name, with credentials transferred to you.
  • Search fundamentals delivered as part of the build rather than as a separate engagement: page titles, meta descriptions, URL structure and an XML sitemap.
  • A tested contact route, verified end to end before launch.
  • A handover covering the amendments you are most likely to make yourself.

Scope and timing

Confirmed in writing before work begins

Each project is quoted following a consultation rather than from a published schedule, because cost is determined by the number of pages required, whether copywriting falls within scope, and whether a visitor is required to do anything beyond making contact.

Scope and cost are documented and agreed before commitment. The figure does not change unless you request work that falls outside the agreed scope.

Frequently asked questions

Common inquiries

We are not sure what we need. Is that a problem?

No. It is the usual starting position. We begin by establishing what your business does, who contacts you and what a visitor should do next — defining the brief is part of the engagement rather than a precondition of it.

Will we be dependent on you afterwards?

No. You hold the domain, the hosting account and the site files, and we provide a handover covering the edits you are most likely to want to make yourself. A care plan is available but is not a condition of the build.

What do you require from us?

Decisions, and whatever material you already hold. Photographs of your own work, a current service list and the questions customers ask most often are more valuable than anything written from the outside.
