Referral partners

Information for referral partners

For accountants, attorneys, printers and consultants whose clients require website work, and who need to know whether we are safe to recommend.

Overview

Why this page exists

Recommending a supplier carries professional risk. Where the recommendation does not hold, it is the referring relationship that sustains the damage rather than the supplier’s. Most professionals therefore either decline to answer or provide a name with a qualification attached.

This page sets out what we do, what we decline, and what a client can expect, so that the decision can be made on the facts. There is no application process and no partner portal.

Scope

What we accept, and what we decline

Stated in advance so that neither party expends a client’s time unnecessarily.

Accepted

  • New websites for local businesses
  • Recovery of sites abandoned by a previous developer
  • Google Business Profile and local search
  • Ongoing hosting and maintenance
  • Small engagements. A single page requiring correction is a routine inquiry.

Declined

  • E-commerce of any substantial scale
  • Custom applications, or work requiring a delivery team
  • Paid advertising. We do not manage Google Ads campaigns.
  • National or enterprise engagements, which are directed to our specialist practice

Where a matter falls outside scope, we say so on first contact rather than three weeks into an engagement.

Client experience

What your client can expect

This is the element on which a referring relationship is actually exposed, and it warrants specifics.

  • Correspondence reaches the people who would do the work, not a reception function.
  • Scope and cost are documented and agreed before any commitment.
  • Quotations follow a consultation. No figure is produced on the spot on the basis of how a client presents.
  • The domain, the hosting account and the site files are registered in the client’s name, and remain so should the engagement end.
  • Where we are not the appropriate supplier, we say so and indicate who might be.
  • The same people remain available a year later.

Process

How to make a referral

Direct the client to our contact page, or write to us on their behalf noting who made the referral.

Where an email introduction is preferred, copy us in and we will proceed from there. Should you wish to assess us before referring a client, contact us directly — that is a reasonable request and we are glad to answer it.

Discuss your project

Tell us what you have and what it needs to do. We will review it and reply with an honest assessment of the work involved.

Every inquiry is read by the people who do the work.
